  • ASSIGNMENT 2: Classification of Matter Flowchart
1. Login to www.mywebspiration.com and open the "Classification of Matter" file
2. Complete the activity using the directions found when you open the file.
3. Find a method for posting the completed concept map as a new assignment at the top of your wiki page (Note: there is more than one way to do this depending on the computer you are working on)

  • ASSIGNMENT 1: Physical and Chemical Properties and Changes
1. Look at your notes, text, or Internet to find out what these four terms mean: Physical Property, Chemical Property, Physical Change, Chemical Change
2. Find and copy 4 pictures to your : 1 showing a physical property, 1 showing a chemical property, 1 showing a physical change, 1 showing a chemical change.
3. Place the images on your wiki page under the heading "ASSIGNMENT 1: Physical and Chemical Properties and Changes" and include a 1-2 paragraph explanation like my example below.
Note: each image is worth 3 points and each correct sentence is worth 2 points for a total of 20 points.

NOTE: Below is an example to help guide you. However, you must come up with your own new creative idea, images, explanation.

The Color of the Baltimore Oriole is a Physical Property. A Physical Property is something you can physically see or touch, like color texture and the shape of the object. The color would be orange and black(our school colors.), the shape is birdlike(no brainer.), and the texture would be soft, because of the feathers. I can physically see this bird in my yard. I probably won't be able to touch the bird, but it is possible!

The Baltimore Oriole eating an orange slice(they like oranges) is a Physical Change. The Baltimore Oriole still has the same look even though the orange was placed on the branch. It's a Physical Change as long as the structure and appearance is the same. The orange just changes the scene of the bird. The structure and physical appearances remain constant.

A slice of apple browning is an example of a Chemical Property. Why, the apple turns brown is because of Oxidation( or reacting with oxygen). The oxygen coming in contact with the apple, and turning it brown is what oxidation does, as well as Avacacodos. A Chemical Property is a change, you can see after a Chemical Change. It changes the original structure.

The leaf in the diagram is showing the process of photosynthesis, and photosynthesis is an example of a Chemical Change. It is an example because photosynthesis is a process when carbon and water are changed into sugar by plants. A Chemical Change is a change when a substance turns or changes into another substance. Like for example, photosynthesis is when light energy changes to a chemical energy in glucose. Plants absorb and eat glucose to survive. Photosynthesis occurs in the chlorophyll, or the green parts of the plant. As the plants pores spew out water vapor that means photosynthesis is taking, or in effect.
